America Is ready…But Are We, Really?

I have been working pretty energetically on the Herman Cain online campaign.  At this point the main focus is getting people acquainted with Herman Cain and sparking interest in him so that they will want to learn more about him.

One of our slogans is, “America is ready for a real leader!” But sometimes I wonder, are we really ready?

Can we any longer be a nation of liberty?  I look at our country today and see a nation that, on the whole, cares little for God and seldom, if ever, gives Him even a passing thought.  I’d be surprised if 50% of Americans could even quote the part of our Declaration of Independence which says:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

And many, if it were quoted to them, could not even identify the Declaration as the document it came from.

The fact is, for the past 60 years or so, God has been systematically removed from America’s consciousness.  It started with the school prayer ban, and continues today.  Only now we are contemplating the removal of “In God We Trust” from our currency.

Sometimes I wonder, is God withholding His blessing from America because we have turned so far away from Him?  When I think about the Obama administration and the direction our country is headed, it’s not so hard to believe, is it?  And I wonder, can God bless a nation that murders over a million of its unborn babies every year for parental convenience?  But I realize that these are questions that only God can answer, and He will, in His own time.

But there is a question that we can answer as individuals, and one that I ask myself constantly:  Am I ready for God’s blessing?  Is my heart open to the workings of God?  Or is it hardened against Him?

Perhaps, if enough of us are ready for God to work in America, we will witness the truth of this biblical passage:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

2 Chr. 7:14, KJV

At least, I hope so, and pray that America is ready for a real leader.

    You’re so right! So many peoples’ hearts are so hardened against God that they don’t even realize that they are missing so many blessings. And until they do, this country isn’t going to turn around anytime soon.

    I really wish the media and even the other candidates would stop misrepresenting Herman Cain’s 999 tax plan. It’s frustrating. I guess there are too many people out there who cling to the current tax code, either not realizing or secretly supporting the way it rewards some and punishes others. The current tax code leaves power in the hands of politicians and that’s scarier than trying something new, at least to a thinking person. -K

    I agree with you Wodke. I think another problem is that the media see Cain’s 9/9/9 plan as clearly superior, and Cain as the potential Republican nominee with the best chance of beating Obama. In other words, he scares their socks off!

    So they do to Cain what they do best! They try to scare the people into rejecting him by misrepresenting his plan, keeping them controlled under the thumb of an increasingly repressive bureaucracy.

    Let’s vote for Cain who’s financed by the Koch Brothers how bad can it be? He will do a better job of destroying America than Barack Obama. Cain/Rubio 2012

      If by destroying America you mean destroying Obama’s vision for America, then I agree with you.

      Obama has been working hard to destroy job creation in America, and it’s working! Herman Cain has a plan, based on old fashioned, proven principles, to create jobs.

      Obama seeks to destroy small businesses and the individual through taxation and regulation, and it’s working! Herman Cain has a plan, based on old fashioned, proven principles, to stimulate small business and to remove oppressive regulation.

      I could go on, Obama promised to fundamentally transform America, and most Americans don’t like it! Herman Cain has promised to return America to her Constitutional roots, and I support that.

      As for your pairing of Cain/Rubio I concur! Or Cain/Bachman perhaps?
